I love watching the waves on Block Island, they are living and breathing, they expand and contract. Painting them is also an exercise of adding and subtracting. I use different forms of watercolor resists -masking fluid and salt - under and over layers of watercolor washes, and scratch off areas of the surface when it’s dry.
